FEMA published revised flood maps for much of the Santa Clara River Watershed on April 11, 2024, to reflect changes in hydrology, topography, and advances in computer modeling since they were first produced in the early 1980’s. The revised maps cover areas in unincorporated Ventura County and the Cities of Santa Paula and Fillmore. The effective Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) panels are official tools for floodplain management practices under National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and for flood insurance. To provide updates to affected property owners on the map changes and implications to NFIP flood insurance policies, FEMA, County of Ventura, and the Cities of Santa Paula and Fillmore are jointly hosting a public outreach meeting at Fillmore City Hall on Wednesday July 10, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
