Projects

The Ventura County Watershed Protection District is dedicated to designing, building, and maintaining flood control projects to protect county residents, properties, and businesses from flood damage. Most of these capital improvement projects take years of careful planning and coordination before construction can begin. Once the design is completed, permitting finalized and funding secured, construction of this critical infrastructure can take place.

One of the largest and most longstanding projects is the Matilija Dam Ecosystem Restoration Project (MDERP) which includes all the associated capital improvement projects that must be completed in advance of the dam removal. Bridges, levees, and a water diversion are all projects that the Watershed Protection District is actively working on.
