FLOOD PREPAREDNESS WEEK
In October of every year the Ventura County Watershed Protection District participates in a statewide event called Flood Preparedness Week. The goal is to share resources about how residents can be aware, be prepared and take action against flooding. The California Department of Water Resources (CADWR) supports events across the state, working with federal, state, and local agencies to inform Californians about flood risk and flood preparedness.
As part of the Flood Preparedness Week activities, Watershed Protection Operation and Maintenance Division will typically hold “Storm Day” exercises to mobilize equipment and execute flood fighting training with personnel. Example activities include channel debris removal, stoplog installation, culvert cleanout, communication protocols, and more.
The Quick links under “Storm Day Links” on the left navigation pane describe some of the recent storm day exercises.
